MyRadar is a handy weather forecasting App. The mobile application doesn't just load numbers and weather-related stats, it displays radar maps, too. Those moving images are streamed from an online source, with real-time information included. The high-definition radar imagery is even color-coded so that the worst weather patterns are easier to pinpoint. Running in the background, the real-time data comes straight from an ultra-precise, Doppler-equipped meteorology center.

While most of the population is content enough with a daily look at a weather report, as hosted on a post-news update segment, some canny citizens prefer to have the most up-to-date information right under their fingertips. They install an App on their mobile device, consult the forecast when they're heading outside, and know just when to pull out an umbrella or thick overcoat. MyRadar provides just this kind of weather forecasting data, but it also goes further. On loading the App, it does list current temperatures and a reliable weather forecast, but that's not the software's foremost purpose. No, MyRadar is a dynamic piece of climate monitoring software. It finds and loads Doppler radar maps, animates those maps in real-time, and highlights severe meteorological zones in bright colors. A heavy rainstorm, for example, would be illuminated in bright reds and yellows, so pull out a rain slicker.

Sporting its high-definition weather maps and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) alerts, MyRadar doesn't opt for a static display. Just the opposite, those varicolored bands rotate and move across the display. They move towards and away from the location of the App user, who is located in the center of the screen. Actually, on first loading the software, a full map of the nation is rendered on the display screen. It shows weather patterns, systems that are on the move all over the country. To see clouds and rainfall intensity locally, allow the App access to a device's location. Next, read the precipitation legend. The horizontally oriented line starts on the left as a shade of blue, then it moves to the right. If the rainfall intensity above the user's location is shading towards red on the animated map, then stay indoors, because the precipitation is at its heaviest.

Available for Android devices and iOS mobile devices, there's also a version of the MyRadar App that supports Microsoft Windows. After the user has installed the free version, the advanced animations do impress the eye, but they're marred somewhat by the inclusion of a lower panel, with its advertisements spoiling the weather tracking experience. However, just for a small fee, the ads can be removed. If work commutes or open-air travel are part of a mobile device owner's or Windows computer owner's daily activities, this free App and its weather tracking capabilities will keep that shrewd user toasty dry while others shiver in the rain.
